Tricks & Stuff has been to a pub in Berkhamsted, a basement at the Edinburgh Fringe, and stages in sixteen countries. This October it lands somewhere new: the beautifully restored Regent Theatre in Richmond, NSW, as part of the very first Sydney Festival of Magic & Illusion.
Four shows only, 8 to 11 October 2026, 4:30pm each day. One hour of comedy magic involving blenders, socks, candy bars, and at least one story my family would prefer I stopped telling.

What Is Tricks & Stuff?
It's the show I've been touring and rebuilding for years: magic with everyday objects instead of top hats and doves, absurd stories that are mostly true, and a lot of audience involvement. I'm a two-time Adelaide Fringe Best Magic winner (2022 and 2024), and this is the show that did it.
Kiddo Mag said my crowd work was "exceptional", and What's The Show called it a masterful combination of illusion, quick wit and comedy. I'd describe it as an hour where the impossible happens with a blender.
Why the Festival Is Worth Your Weekend
The festival runs 20+ shows over four days: mentalism, illusion, close-up card work, and kids shows, all in one venue. My 4:30pm slot means you can see Tricks & Stuff and still catch an evening show after. If you're planning a full day of it, I've written a guide to the whole festival program.
Planning Your Visit
- Getting there: The Regent is on Richmond's main street, a short walk from Richmond Station at the end of the T5 line. Street parking is available on and around Windsor Street.
- Timing: Doors are close to showtime, so arrive 15 minutes early to find your seats without rushing.
- Before or after: Windsor Street has cafes and restaurants within a couple of minutes' walk, and a 5:30pm finish lands you perfectly at dinner time.
- School holidays: The Thursday and Friday shows fall inside the NSW spring school holidays, and the weekend shows are the last free weekend before Term 4. More on that in my school holidays guide.

Will I be dragged on stage? Only if you want to be. Nobody is embarrassed in this show except me.
Which night should I pick? Whichever suits, the show is the same. But there are only four shows, so the earlier you book, the better your pick of seats.
